Gran Canaria is barely 50 kilometres across, yet its interior looks nothing like the coast you are staying on. This tour runs through the mountains, the white villages and the high viewpoints, with lunch included. Please note it is guided in Polish.<\/p>\n
You leave the south and start climbing straight away. The first stop is the Degollada de la Llegua<\/strong> viewpoint over the mountains, then Fataga<\/strong>, a Canarian village tucked into a valley, where you see local architecture and ordinary daily life rather than the resort version of the island.<\/p>\n In San Bartolom\u00e9 de Tirajana<\/strong> you stop among old streets and by the church. It is also the first coffee break, taken here as a leche leche<\/strong> or a barraquito<\/strong>, the layered version with condensed milk.<\/p>\n The highest point of the day is Mirador Pico de las Nieves<\/strong>, with a panorama of the whole island and a view of Roque Nublo<\/strong>, the rock monolith that serves as the symbol of Gran Canaria. On the way down you stop at Cruz de Tejada<\/strong>, where local products are sold and sampled. The cheeses from this region are genuinely good.<\/p>\n Tastings along the route include honey rum, Canarian cheeses and mojo sauces<\/strong>. Then comes Teror<\/strong>, a town of colonial houses and carved wooden balconies, with free time for a walk and lunch included in the price<\/strong>, featuring local dishes such as ropa vieja. The day ends in Las Palmas<\/strong>, the island capital.<\/p>\n It suits travellers who want to see Gran Canaria beyond the beach and prefer one well planned day to working out winding mountain roads in a rental car. It also works if you like eating locally, because the tastings are built into the route.<\/p>\n If you struggle with hairpin roads or want a physically active day, this is not it. The route is mountainous and winding, and the sightseeing happens mostly as short walks between stops.<\/p>\n We collect you from your hotel or the immediate area<\/strong> in the south of the island: Playa del Ingl\u00e9s, Maspalomas, Puerto Rico, and Puerto Mog\u00e1n if agreed in advance.
